Power Xpert UX switchgear – UX is the latest offering that builds on the success and legacy of Eaton’s Unitole MV switchgear. The UX is a global design that is certified to the la test IEC 62271 -100 and -200 standards. Eaton UX is a complete range up to 4000 A, 50 kA-3s short circuit withstand, and 50 kA-1s AFLR internal arc classification.

The compact UX design is based on Eaton’s leadership vacuum technology and is available in three panel widths (600, 800, 1000 mm) and 12, 17.5, and 24 kV system voltages. Eaton’s latest vacuum circuit breaker, the W-VACi, sits at the heart of Power Xpert UX. The W-VACi, with its advanced vacuum interrupter contact designs yield longer life and are very compact.

Eaton FMX switchgear – fixed type up to 2000A 25kA with arc absorber (manufactured in Hengelo, Netherlands)

 

AVID Group is an Eaton HV partner, however also has established relationships with other major vendors such as ABB, Schneider and several others.
Since AVID Group is an Eaton HV partner, AVID Group is involved in the local assembly of the HV Switchgear, upon taking receipt of the base HV switchgear assembly from Eaton’s China & Hengelo factories. AVID Group will locally procure, build, test and commission the LV Compartment that is fitted with Protection Relays, Indicator Lamps, Control Switches, Terminals, Test Links etc and any other special features that are required. This enables Eaton’s China & Hengelo factories to manufacture the base HV Switchgear at a rapid rate and can be shipped must sooner after production, whilst AVID Group are finalising the design and specification of the Protection & Control system. The local integration enables the Customer to attend AVID Group’s premises in Forrestfield to witness Factory Acceptance Testing, thus removing the requirement to travel to China or Hengelo. Furthermore, AVID Group’s works are strictly in compliance with Australian Standards.

 

Eaton have specifically developed an Arc Absorber technology, which is type tested up to 40kA. The main advantage of the Arc Absorber is the removal of ductwork and penetrations to the structure for venting of the pressure and bi-products following an internal arc fault in the HV Switchboard. This means that the replacement of HV Switchboards in an existing building can be achieved much easier, since the modification works to the structure can be substantially minimised.
Eaton have an extensive range of Primary and Secondary type HV Switchgear. The Primary Switchgear can be specified up to 2,500A & 50kA and can be Withdrawable or Fixed. The Secondary Switchgear (RMU) can be specified up to 630A and 25kA, however is fixed modular type and can be made two-way extensible.
 
AVID Group undertake the design of the protection relay & control schematics for the HV Switchboards, thus allowing better control over the final design with the customer.
